Look for the Yellow

If you’re anything like me, you understand the benefits of meditation yet still struggle to do so on a daily basis. Someone recently recommended that I pick a color and simply notice it throughout my day. Apparently, this “counts” as mindfulness. Research shows that mindfulness can reduce stress, boost working memory, increase focus, help us become less emotionally reactive, increase physical health and give us better quality of life.

So, now when I sit at my desk, I have begun to look around the room and find the yellow objects. Walking – I find the yellow. Making dinner – yup yellow.

I can’t always get myself to sit for 20 minutes paying attention to my breath, but I can find the yellow…
