Susan is a Leadership Coach, Motivational Speaker, and Founder and CEO Beyond the 11th.
Susan is a leadership coach and speaker who believes the leaders people actually follow are the ones who've figured out what makes them magnetic, and lead with it.
To Susan, that has nothing to do with a title. She works with people who want to lead more deliberately, whether that's a team of fifty or just their own next chapter. From private clients to executives at every level, managers through CEOs, the through-line is the same: everyone is responsible for their own life, and that makes everyone a leader. Her style is equal parts warmth and candor. She'll cheer you on and tell you the truth, sometimes in the same sentence, until you're leading from your real strengths instead of second-guessing them.
Susan is on the faculty of the Co-Active Training Institute (CTI), the leading experiential training company for professional coaches, where she teaches and mentors the next generation of coaches through certification.
Susan is also a sought-after speaker, and her message about resilience lands because she's lived it. After her husband David was killed in the September 11th attacks, she co-founded Beyond the 11th, a nonprofit supporting Afghan widows through literacy and income-generating programs. For that work she's received the Presidential Citizens Medal, presented by President Barack Obama in 2010, and the 2017 CARE Global Leaders Network Humanitarian Award. She's been featured everywhere from Oprah and the Today show to The Guardian and The New York Times. Her 2019 TEDx talk, The Transformative Power of Small Choices, has reached audiences worldwide, and she's the subject of the award-winning documentary Beyond Belief.
